5G-ENSURE output: Early Vision for the 5G-PPP security enablers technical roadmap

5G-ENSURE has produced its early vision for the 5G security and privacy enablers it plans to release in two major releases, namely in September 2016 (v1.0 - Release 1) and August 2017 (v2.0 - Release 2). This first publication provides the Technical Roadmap for release 1 in terms of the scope and features of the enablers, and offers some insights into release 2.

The envisioned enablers are organised into categories representing major security areas recognised as being the topmost priorities for the 5G-PPP and 5G security. These are Authentication, Authorisation and Accountability (AAA), Privacy, Trust, Security Monitoring,  Network management, and virtualisation isolation. The discussion on each of these aspects covers product vision, technology area, security aspects, security challenges, technical roadmap for first release and the subsequent release.

This document draws on the recent 5G-ENSURE Use Cases (D2.1) illustrating the security and privacy aspects of 5G networks, and demontrating the relevance of the planned security enablers and features to the corresponding 5G use cases.

The early vision technical roadmap aims to be a reference document in the exchange and cross-collaboration with other 5G-PPP projects within the context of the 5G-PPP Security Working Group.
