Diego Lopez is among the "founding fathers" of the Network Function Virtualization (NFV) concept and the ETSI NFV ISG. He is in charge of network virtualization research in Telefonica and he chairs the ETSI NFV Technical Steering Committee, and the NFV Research Group in the IRTF. He is ETSI NFV Chairman from 1 August 2016.
